New Symptoms of Covid-19 Can Be Seen on Toes and Fingers According to Experts

Aside from common symptoms from coronavirus such as fever, sore throat, loss of smell, among others, some experts are beginning to suspect that "COVID toes or fingers" can be another sign of coronavirus infection.

Dr. Lindy Fox, a dermatologist in San Francisco said that before the COVID-19 pandemic she used to see every year four or five patients with "chilblains" or painful red inflammations in fingers or toes related with cold air.

But over the past weeks, she said she has seen dozens. Dr. Fox, who practices at the University of California, San Francisco said that “I’ve got clinics filled with people coming in with new toe injury. And it’s not people who had chilblains before — they’ve never had anything like this.”

In Boston, the director of global health dermatology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Esther Freeman said her telemedicine clinic is also “completely full of toes. I had to add extra clinical sessions, just to take care of toe consults. People are very concerned,”.

Even the British Associated Dermatologist also tweeted and said that “‘COVID toes’ are one of the skin signs seen during the COVID-19 pandemic. Skin symptoms may play a crucial role in detecting infection in people who are otherwise asymptomatic”

That’s why experts are advising people to be vigilant and always follow the protocol: wear masks, social distancing, wash our hands regularly, and avoid touching the mouth, ear, and nose. Let’s all be careful and practice all that is mention above and live a healthy lifestyle for our safety.
