Chel Diokno and other Complaining Netizens Received a Subpoena From NBI

Jose Manuel "Chel" Icasiano Diokno (born February 23, 1961) is a Filipino lawyer, educator, and advocate. He serves as chairman of the Free Legal Assistance Group and the founding dean of the De La Salle University College of Law. He had served as special counsel of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. He is one of the Filipinos who posts lots of complain about the government that we have right now.

Chel Diokno also received a subpoena form the NBI (National Bureau of Investigations) and waiting for him to report in their office. Diokno accepted the invitation that is given to him by the NBI. They say that Diokno has a violation of Article 154 of Revised Penal Code or the Unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances.

“’Di lang si Mayor Vico. Pati ordinaryong mamamayang nagpo-post ng hinaing online, pinapatawag ng NBI. Tinanggap ko ang kasong ito dahil di na makatao ang nangyayari. Ang dami nang namamatay, pati frontliners, pero imbis na COVID, kritiko ang gusto nilang puksain,” post of Chel Diokno in Facebook.

NBI announced that they called out dozen of people who tried to go against the law. Netizens are being called out of the NBI for them to explain why they do such a thing. “So far, we have sent 17 subpoenas. And we are anticipating we are going to further issue some subpoenas concerning the investigation that we are conducting, concerning fake news,” said “Victor Lorenzo, head of the NBI Cybercrime Division. “That’s our main focus right now: false news related to COVID-19 that will have the tendency to endanger the public order. We focus our investigation on that, that’s why we sent subpoenas,” he continued.
